Immigration

Immigration

Unauthorized immigrants who choose to stay and live illegally in the United States should be deported back to their homeland. Not to say they do not deserve an opportunity to become citizens because I feel some of them do. Any current and new immigrants should be given a deadline in which they are required to learn the native language, apply for a social security card, and the rest of the needs to become apart of a working class society. Any and all criminals should be deported as well. The United States is a land of slim opportunity where the race for work and citizenship is severely tight.

It seems that immigration rates today have sky rocketed leading to many down falls throughout the nation.  Such down falls are the economic recession, over crowded schools, healthcare issues, low wages and possibly more. The issue has grown and no solution has been effective enough to decrease the amount of immigrants coming into the country.

Ruthless Cat

Ruthless Cat
Earl was a seventeen-year-old dude that attended Brooklyn High School. He wasn’t the tallest dude in the world or the strongest but he can hold his own. He never really liked school he thought it was for nerds and nitwits. He was the type to stack cash and live fast. He loved to crack jokes and act a fool and picking on people because of his large ego. One time he was in the hallway talking to the head of the local neighborhood crew called the jack hammers, whom he would sometimes do some odd jobs for. The head than said ‘’Aye little man I’ll give you some good stuff and some dough if you punch one of these cats coming’’ Earl laughed ‘’Hahaha you for real’’ So as he approached Earl pulled back and let him have it. Boom! Right to the face and knocked him on his ass.  Earl scooped his cash and stuff and split instantly.  Now the little Earl had a pocket full of cash to burn, he started off by hitting Brazzinos Cheese steak joint, the finest cheese steak sandwiches in Brooklyn, he took two to go. After munching he hit the streets, hollering at the fly ladies and getting a few numbers too, also scouring some more cash from shooting dice.

Attitudes and Behaviors during CST

For more than half of the CST all I did was talk and talk really loud. I would talk with my friend Gary and didn’t care what the teacher said because it was all I wanted to do. Some of the things we talked about were pretty stupid but also very, very funny. The funny and stupid things my pals and me talked about were mama jokes. We looked like a bunch of idiots because we were the only ones laughing at the jokes we were saying. A lot of the jokes we said didn’t make any sense because that’s the kind of dumb asses we are. People were getting mad because I kept distracting dem during the testing.
I distracted the whole class because I didn’t have anything better to do. People were really starting to get annoyed because I kept on running my mouth. I really didn’t care I just wanted to get my classmates mad and the teacher angry. The class was getting angrier and angrier because I got even louder and louder. I found it funny because people kept telling me to shut up and like an idiot I didn’t.
The way I was distracting the class was I kept on making animal noises and random stupid noises. Distracting the class was fun and if I had the choice I would go back and do it all over again because making animal noises is super duper fun. I ended up getting in trouble and kicked out of the CST. I learned something from this experience if u ever want to mess around during a CST make sure u make it the best time of your life.

Me Essay

                                                Me Essay

My dream is to be a professional baker and have my own business.
My name is Alyssa Avila, I’m seventeen years old. I was born on November 3, 1993 in Los Angeles. I live in the city of Bell. I attend Bell High School and I’m currently a senior.
I live with both of my parents and my brother. My brother and I don’t get along so we never talk, just fight. My parents are cool, we go to places like Hollywood, the beach, downtown, and other kinds of fun places. My parents get along with my friends. Plenty of people say I look very similar to my mom but she is very light skinny.
We have two dogs at home. Ones name is Oso and we had him for about eight years already. Our other dogs name is Rocky, we had him for five years now. They both don’t get along, they always fight especially for the attention of my mom. Oso is a mix of a Chihuahua and a Shiatsu. Oso is a very aggressive dog towards people and he’s scared of other dogs. Rocky is a mutt who is aggressive towards other dogs and friendly to people.
During my life I have attended three different schools. I went to Nueva vista, Nimitz middle school, and Bell Senior High. During that time I met plenty of people, some nice, some not so nice and others who were odd but cool. I’ve learned a lot since then like reading and writing better. I’ve also learned how to use the computer more for photoshop and other cool programs. The funnest class I had so far in high school was painting, I really enjoyed that class and I was good at it.
I enjoy being out and going places with friends or family. The funnest time I had was when I went to Venice beach with my friend Richy and my cousin Aleah. I go to Hollywood a lot with my parents because it's fun spending time with them. I enjoy going out to parties with my friends, they act crazy but they really are entertaining. Just being out of the house is fun I’d rather be out than stuck at home doing nothing.
I love to listen to music whether im doing homework, going places, or just at home relaxing.

Creation of Barbie

                                                                        Creation Of Barbie

As we all know Barbie is the most popular doll in the United States, but have you ever wondered who created Barbie?
Ruth Handler, wife of Mattel’s co-founder, Elliot Handler, created Barbie in 1959. She named Barbie after her daughter Barbara. The first time Ruth took her idea to Mattel they turned her down. Ruth didn’t give up though. While on a trip to Europe Ruth saw a German doll named Lilli and she had everything that Ruth had envisioned. She went back to Mattel and showed them her idea again and unsure if it would be the next famous toy, they approved it.
Barbie was the first doll of its kind in the U.S. and critics questioned whether consumers would buy it. In the first year of sales: 351,000 Barbie dolls were sold. The cost of a Barbie doll when it first came out was $3. Barbie was mainly made to be a role model for young girls. Ruth wanted little girls to know that they can be anything they wanted. Barbie has over 500 makeovers such as a Doctor, Veterinarian, Astronaut, Rock star, Aerobics instructor, Princess and they even make Barbies that look like celebrities.
A few years after the coming out of Barbie, Ken was created. Ken was named after Ruth’s son. Now they have Barbie’s friends and family like Skipper, Tutti, Todd, Francie, Jazzie and many of other characters. They also made accessories like clothes, cars, shoes, houses and even pets for Barbie. For Barbie’s houses they sell refrigerators with food, that’s not real of coarse, and furniture like sofas, showers, beds, closets, and drawers. They have made everything for Barbie.
I have owned over 100 Barbie’s since I was younger and I had lots of accessories for her and her friends. Being a kid and going to buy a Barbie was so fun. It was hard to choose which Barbie you’d want because there were so many to choose from. Barbies would never go out of style for little girls and the history of Barbie is interesting to know.

Attitudes and Behaviors Toward CST Testing 1

My Attitude Toward CST Testing

CST testing is the most important test we can take because it is one of the requirements that we are suppose to pass before we graduate. But is it really that important?
The CST tests are way too long and during that whole time we only get two minutes to stretch and drink a tiny box of expired, stale juice. I’m sure that during that time students get hungry, but teachers like my homeroom teacher Ms. Chavez, don’t allow students to eat in her class. As a result of the teacher not letting us eat we can’t think and we get distracted causing us to lose concentration. This leads to us guessing on the test just so that we can finish faster.
When students finish early on the test they still have nothing to do other than stare at the wall or fall asleep. We are not allowed to use electronics when we are done because the teachers think we are going to be cheating but they can just collect them than making us suffer from boredom.
While taking the test our homeroom teacher would tell us how much time we have left but this test isn’t based on time or who finishes quicker. We are supposed to take our time because the test is based on how much knowledge we have so we are supposed to try our best to get as many answers as we can correctly but since we are rushed some students might try to rush through it. When I took the CST last semester I felt rushed by the teacher because she kept repeating the time we had left and she would tell us to hurry up a little because time is running out.
This test is useless and we don’t need it to judge us and divide people by their knowledge. It can lower a students self esteem and make them feel less than their peers. It's not like all the students try to pass, they just want to be over with testing.

How would you respond to people who say that unauthorized immigrants don’t deserve a path to citizenship because they are breaking the law by coming and staying here?

I would agree with whoever said that because immigrants are breaking laws and they come here expecting a better life but because of them the economy is going bad. They are taking all of the real citizens jobs. United States citizen’s needs should come before the immigrants. We have lived here all our lives and we shouldn’t be losing jobs or getting less privileges in school because of them.

Due to all of the immigrants coming here people are losing their jobs and schools are becoming overcrowded because immigrants pop out babies like there’s no tomorrow. Some of the parents I see neglect their children and its sad to see. Why have kids if you don’t know how to take care of them? Most of the time they cant even afford to have kids and they stay hungry, homeless and dirty.

When immigrants go out looking for jobs companies  hire them because they think immigrants are easy to take advantage of. Since immigrants come looking for any job they only get paid a little bit and the companies keep most of the money. It is unfair but immigrants need the money and companies want the money.

In schools, for students that came from Mexico, they get to stay an extra year if they need it, but what about the students who were born here? We should be able to have those privileges like they do. Its not fair that us students have to automatically go to adult school or request an extra year when the immigrants get to have an extra year no doubt about it. They should have their own school or classes for them because I don’t think that they can keep up with the regular classes because they either don’t know any English or they can speak it but not well.

I don’t have anything against immigrants but I just think that they should be deported or make a more protected border so they wont come in. The way things are right now in the U.S. we hardly have jobs because of the budget cuts and people cant afford to lose their jobs because of bills to pay and families to take care of. If people in Mexico can't take care of themselves over there then they can’t keep up over here either.

Harassment in School

Alyssa A.
Period 2

                                                            Harassment

There are plenty of other people besides gay people who get bullied, such as over weight people and people who are mentally challenged but they don’t get all butt hurt like gay people do. I understand why they get offended but its not like being gay is a  big deal. I notice gay people love to get attention so they shouldn’t complain about other peoples opinion.
Gay guys and girls get harassed and called names and get judged by what they wear. I think its pretty weird seeing a guy wear short shorts, make-up, fix up their hair like girls and most of us are not used to seeing anyone look like that so people who really don’t like it bully them.
Some Bullies think gay people would change if they scare them or beat them up but it doesn’t. Bullies only beat up gay people because they are uncomfortable with themselves. This is dangerous because the person who is getting harassed will either try to stand up for him or herself and carry a weapon to get rid of their enemy or feel so out of place and might commit suicide. This is why it is important to have counselors at school, not ones who judge the kids but actually try to help them and punish their bullies.
Other people who get bullied are "sluts", but when girls let themselves be called "whores" and other names it makes it ok for guys to call them that too. It's sad when girls make themselves look that way but some girls do it on purpose for the attention so it's their fault that people call them names. Sometimes girls get called "sluts" because of rumors even if they aren’t true but no one cares about the truth, they love the stories and gossip.
Harassment is everywhere and there is no way to stop everyone from harassing other people but don’t go along with it and bully people too just cause your friends do it. People who harass other people can get into trouble. They can lose their job or get suspended at school and even get into trouble with the law. No one would like it if they got bullied for the clothes they wear or the way they look.

Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer

Some students don’t really appreciate their parents. We rebel, disobey, talk back, and get them angry. Students usually say they hate their parents for the smallest reasons. But once a parent’s health is in jeopardy, students realize that they don’t hate their parents and slowly appreciate them.
On February 1st. 2011 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was shocked when she told me. I was speechless; all I could do was hug her. Late that night all I was able to do is think. I couldn’t sleep at all. I was unable to speak to her because I was afraid of saying the wrong thing. I wanted to ask her what the doctors told her but I was afraid to know the truth. That fear kept stopping me from knowing the truth. Every time I tried to speak to my mom the words wouldn’t come out.  Every morning my mom would wake me to let me know that she will be at the hospital. She had to go often for more testing and for the chemotherapy. My little sister and I would be at my house alone every morning. It would sadden me when she would wake up crying, looking for her.  Ever since we received the news, I started to realize that slowly things began to change at home.  My mom had to kick out my little sister from their room and put her into mine. My little sister didn’t want to sleep in my room but my mom ended up telling her why she couldn’t sleep in her room anymore. My little sister, Angelie is only 3 years old; surprisingly she understood what my mom told her, why she couldn’t sleep with them any more.  My mom told her in a way she would understand. Angelie got used to sleeping with me and I got used to her sleeping by my side. Once I came to school I tried not to wake my little sister but she would manage to wake up right before I’m about to walk out of the house and she would yell out to me “ Jazmin, wait don’t leave, I don’t want you to leave me!” I felt like I was her mother, hearing those words. Every morning she would wake up and try to stop me from coming to school so I can stay with her.

I took responsibility and began doing the tasks that my mom used to do such as cleaning the house, washing dishes and sometimes cooking. Cooking was pretty hard to do for me because my parents like their food a certain way so my aunt helps out with the cooking.  I had to give up a lot of activities that I used to do. I didn’t really mind. It helped me be a better person. I have more responsibility in my hands. My mom has been reacting very well with her chemotherapy. She wouldn’t get sick like other people do until her 3rd chemotherapy. She became emotionally stable. I wasn’t able to see her as often after her chemotherapy. She stayed in her room just lying there. When I would ask her why she doesn’t come out, she replied by saying it was because she felt so weak and helpless. Seeing my mom cry makes me feel weak and helpless because I still don’t know what to say or how to make her feel better.  I try not to cry in front of her because I don’t want her to worry but lately I, myself, have been depressed. This had a huge effect on me. I was hoping school will take my mind off this, but it didn’t make it any better.
I have gotten panic attacks during class. I sleep less and less with each day that goes by. Lately I have only slept one hour a day. I can’t take naps in the afternoon like I used to; I just can’t sleep.  I have tried to distract myself with things but it doesn’t help much. I’m too stress out and worried. Recently I found out that my little brother Jason is also depressed. He may not say much or not show it, but I can tell just by looking at his eyes.  It is taking effect on everyone in the family. I feel life is extremely difficult at the moment.

Students shouldn’t take advantage of their parents; they should appreciate what they have. Sometimes something tragic has to happen in the family for them to realize what they have is good enough.

I am a random, out-going, outspoken girl that loves to fix cars. I began to fall in love with cars when I fell in love with a 65’ mustang. Every since that day all I wanted to do is get to fix them, although I am more into the classic cars.
I am Jamin Lisbeth Bravo; I was born here in LA at 5:05 am. I do not know what hospital. As a toddler I started off as troublemaker. I remember my first time in kindergarten. I was so excited that I even knew my Alphabet. I was one of the first students to finish. I felt smart that day.  I made some friends with the same name as me. We were all named Jasmine. My kindergarten teacher was Mrs. Raigedo. She was one of the nicest teachers I have had.  I would disrupt and destroy the class and she still would not even yell at me, even after I glued my classmates to chairs and destroyed their paintings. I have always been a troublemaker since then. First grade with Mr. Arenas, second with Mr. Bustamante, third with Mrs. Moure, fourth with Mrs Petrone and fifth with Mr. Montes, who I also misbehaved with.
Once I reached middle school I began to behave a little more responsible but I still got in trouble. It was my talkative attitude that got me in trouble. In sixth grade I hung out with the wrong crowd. All my homies were in a gang. I was the only one that wasn’t in one and I didn’t plan on joining one. I was against it and I found it so stupid, yet they were so much fun to hang out with. We would go to cars shows a lot back then. We would never miss a car show. I began to love cars that year. My friends would look after me and they would have my back no matter what. Which is was true every time I needed them. They would always say I was like a sister to them. But one drastic change happened. A few homies got shot, others moved away and some got locked up. I haven’t seen them since. I always remember them and I go to car shows to remember the good times and see if I would see them there waiting for me. After they disappeared and I was left alone and I began to hang out with a different crowd of people. It was a pretty big group in 8th grade. It was fun we would prank each other and joke around. My friends went from gangsters to punks and metal heads. My momma did not like my friends.
I have lived in bell for 16 years now. I use to live in Maywood with my mom and some aunts for about a year then we moved to Bell. I live with my mom Aracely Ramirez, my step dad Fabio Soberanes, and my half brothers Tito and Jason Soberanes, and sister Angelie soberanes. There are six of us in the family. My birth dadd didn’t want to do anything with me but when I was born he decided he did. I began to see my dad when I was five years old. He was a druggy so we did not do much. I also met my step-mom and I still see her. She was the one who would take care of me and take me out when my dad wasn’t feeling good. Which was most of the time. My mom and my birth daddy are from Tepic Nayarit. My step dad is from Sinaloa El Amole. I like my family, even though they  are sort of weird because they are like friends. They crack jokes on us on unexpected times. They try to embarrass us in front of our friends. When we throw parties they are very entertaining. They do the silly dance when they are drunk. My cousins and I do a bet for who ever falls asleep first gets whipped cream on them. I lost once they even have me on tape getting whipped cream on.
High school isn’t what I expected but I managed to survive it all these four years. My high school best friends are Jenny and Becky. Iv known Jenny since elementary school we started getting close in seventh grade. We had been through a lot together. We are constantly getting into arguments. But we make up. Becky and I  met in eleventh grade second semester. We got close senior year. Jenny likes the fact that I’m different from other girls she has talked to. Her and I are the opposite from each other but yet we have some similarity interests. Becky is the baby from our friendship she makes us realize that we will always be friends and that we are good people inside. She will never make you feel alone. I am glad that I have met her. Its sad how jenny and I are going to leave her after our senior year is finished because she’s a junior. I wont forget her, I even told her that I am going to college to get a job and buy an apartment so all three of us can live together.
I plan on going to college for fashion design but if that plan fails I am going to study for auto mechanic collision. I like making clothes when I can and it would be sweet if others get to wear what I make. I just hope that people like it and that I make it. I also want to fix cars. Pimping them out would be awesome. Getting an old torn up car and making it look good as new would be the best thing ever. Especially working with classic cars. I would want to get my mustang 65’ and fix it up. Not only would I want to make them look new but also race them. Like in Fast and the Furious. Adding turbo, neon lights, and hatchback to the Hondas ECT. If its a stick shift car that's even better. Those are my dream careers. I have a back up plan incase one of those fails.

First of the Month

First Of The Month
What’s the worst first experience you’ve ever had? Well all get scared on our first experience. Not knowing what is going on or what goes on. In the short story “ First confession” by Frank O’ Connor, the author states that the first experiences aren’t as scary as others tend to put it. Jackie is a young boy who has to go to his first confession. Its not what we think it is or been told. We have our first initiation on random times and unexpectedly. It’s a step forward.
My first initiation was an embarrassing first time. I really didn’t know what was going on. I freaked out, calling my friends to come take a look, but I was also kind of happy because maybe it will get me excused from cycle motor. I was in the restroom with my friends Ale, Jessica, and Verenice. We were hiding in there so we won’t end up doing cycle motor (P.E.). We hear the lady coming so we all pretend to use the restroom unfortunately i really had to go. The lady leaves and everyone comes out but me. When I am done using the restroom I see blood. I call my friends over to my stall to take a look.  They all look and ask me if I had hit myself or if I have a cut, I answered no. The lady walks back in and takes Verenice and Jessica away, Ale stays with me. She knew why I was bleeding that when she had told me that I gotten my first period.
I didn’t know what that meant so she explained it to me on the way to the nurses office. As she is explaining it to me I’m scared to death just like in the quote “ I was scared to death of confession” said Jackie. I felt Jackie’s fear not knowing what’s going to happen. Once we are at the nurse’s office she tells the nurse  what happened. The nurse calls my mom and gives me something. I did not know what it was or how to use it. When I finally figure out the use of it I go back out. The nurse tells me I’m fine, it’s normal. I was lucky enough to be wearing red jeans that day. The funny thing was I did end up getting excused from cycle motor.
When my friend was explaining the situation to me then I realized that I’m growing up. My body is developing without me knowing it. I have to act a bit more mature than before. Parents didn’t see me as a little kid no more they saw me as a young woman. Like Jackie says “ I knew then I was lost, given up to eternal justice”. I also, myself felt lost. I was confused and mortified. Once I had stopped bleeding I thought it was over. The next month I had a stain, nobody told me I get it every month. Maybe I misunderstood, but I learned that i get it every month for a week. I have to be careful and change every hour. As a 5th grader I found it as a lot of work. I couldn’t play with the boys anymore. I had to act more like a girl and less than a tomboy. That experience did change my life. Although I was never informed about young girls getting their periods it wasn’t that bad. At least it wasn’t something serious like I thought when I first saw the blood. I felt as if my body was developing at a young age. I had to worry about keeping track when all I wanted to do it worry free. It was a good experience that changed something about me.
Jackie had his first initiation and it was his first confession. He was scared to death about confessing. My first initiation was getting my period for the first time. Both Jackie and I were scared and confused. I learned that I am growing up and that every girl gets it as well. Some girls get it earlier than others. People tell us their first experience or first time and try to make it seem scary. We all see our first expierence different than others. Every first expierence is scary but it’s worth it. It’s step forward showing us we are growing up.

People are Becoming Less Intelligent

People are Becoming Less Intelligent

People through out time have evolved from what’s around them. This comes to an important topic which we focus on. People are always trying to improve our society to have better lifestyles. But many questions are still asked about how smart or reliable on technology should we become.
People have now opened their minds and are contributing to new possibilities for not only exploring the world but beyond our knowing. By making new ideas for improvements to society it helps us get to the next level and be advanced for our time. Such ideas as getting people to use technology on a daily bases has impacted our life. Over the last 10 years technology has come to the point in which 9 out of 10 people use technical devices on a daily bases. In the article “How technology affects people” by Daniel Montana. Daniel states, “as a culture we are focused too much on bits of technology and we often forget to look at the big picture- how technology impacts our cultures”. This means that we sometimes focus so much on technology that we don’t see what is happening around us and the world. We enjoy adapting to new technology because we find it easier to use technological equipment that will do the work for us. Others disagree about technology’s use in such ways because its makes the human population dumb, lazy and let alone depending on a computer to function and monomer our lives.
“Weaker and lazier as we fall”. We have let weakness, overcome are brains. In recent studies it shows we’ve become less intelligent in the pass 10 years. In these studies it indicates the brains function have decreased due to lack of exercising the brain. For example not using our heads to study not reading or simply finding a new way to avoid using our brains. We have turned to the computer to make all of our decisions. As a human species have big shoes to fill and can’t go back to living in caves. It’s going to be hard work to use our brains more often, but by working together anything is possible.
“Laziness a disinclination to activity or exertion despite having the ability to do so”. It’s the number one word describing human reaction and time consuming in a life today. Laziness is a problem that has to be solved. Laziness can lead to large soars and obesity. We are strong as one, we’ve been through wars, natural disasters and yet we’re still breathing. This is just the beginning of life towards a technologic future than so be it. But remembering we our still humans that can gain intelligence from technology just as easily as we can lose it. Someone once told me “if you don’t use it you loose it.” I think it’s time to not take it as a joke but as a message.
Technology in our society can always be a helping hand. Even if it might change the world’s way of functioning, it’ll only be for a moment or at least I hope. Both new and old generations, must not forget where we came from and how we started with a bone in a cave, to a phone in a house.

                                                   Harassment

One type of harassment is bullying. People get bullied almost everyday. When bullies see people that are not perfect like them, they start talking badly to them. For example, one time when I was outside my house their was a kid that looked like he was a nerd walking home alone and these to guys that looked like bullies started to follow him and call him names. They even said, "give me your money."
Then they started to push him and it was sad because the little kid was trying to run away. As soon as  the bullies saw me coming to help the little kid, the two bullies ran away and the kid was really hurt. Some people get bullied because they are gay and some people don’t like seeing guys with guys. When bullies these guys and look at how they are dressed, they make fun of what they are wearing.

The CST
The California standards test (cst) is a test we must take after every school year from Second to Eleventh Grade. This test is a multiple-choice test with one essay to be written at the end. This test is taken to determine how much you have improved in the school year and then they determine if you are smart or not.

The problem with this test is that it’s developed by California educators and test developers specifically for California. They believe that were supposed to pass a test written by genius and they expect students to pass with a proficient or advanced score. This test is not taken serious by some students because it’s a boring test. The test has so many questions that students get tired of reading and answering questions. Each day you test on a different subject like English, Math, Science, and History.

I think that students don’t really care about this test because you score good or bad you move onto the next grade. If the test had more consequences like if they didn’t pass they will repeat that grade then students would actually try harder and pass.

The test takes a week to complete and students after a week get tired of sitting their butts down on a chair for three hours. If the test was really important to school then they would offer classes were students could come and see the test released questions so that way students wouldn’t be as lost as when they see the questions. I believe that when we get the test we blank out because the first questions are about what we learned from the beginning of the school year and then from what we learned recently.
The worst part of the test is the English part because we got to read like 20 essays and answer like Five questions and then answer like 30 multiple choice questions and write a essay on a topic chosen by the test in like 20-30 min. the teachers hurry us up and tell us that if we don’t finish the test that we wont be able to finish. This is all a lie after the test if not done then students may take more time to finish.
The math part of the test also has the hardest question at the end you have to solve a problem probably written by Albert Einstein. First we solve the general questions and then we get into a little bit harder questions and at the end then we get the hardest questions. To finish the test we must answer a word problem that is the most difficult one of test.
The test is really dumb and I believe this test is just taken to put us down. The test should be taken in middle school and not high school and that way students get over the test and worry more important stuff then studying for the year-end test. I believe the state has control of schools and that way teachers don’t teach us what they know because they must follow rules.

Harassment

Harassment

Harassment is all over the world these days especially in schools. If there is evidence from someone that’s being harassed, it is considered as a crime. There are different kinds of harassment like name-calling, bullying and sexual harassment. Many people don’t realize that harassment hurts others around them.
Many people and kids name-call each other and the most common words that are used among each other is gay and fag. These words are referred to a person as a bisexual. Victims of these types of name-callings may feel threatened or oppressed.
Bullying is a type of harassment and form of abuse. Teens, kids and even adults find a weak person to target and just bully them around. Types of bulling is just pushing their target around, hitting them and hurting them. It is said that bullying leads to several cases of suicides every year because the person being target, can just take so much and they are fed up with it.
Sexual harassment is common in every part of the world. The most common one is when people make hurtful comments about another person’s sex. One example is when men or boys, make comments about women in general. There is sexual harassment at work, school and even home. There is no way to stop it but people can prevent it and avoid it. By avoiding it people can just ignore it and know that all this harassment is childish and they have better things to do than sit around and worry about this problem.

Pit Bulls

                                         Pit Bulls

I love all kinds of animals even though they can be ugly , fat, skinny, or deformed. I feel something very special for all of them. But the ones I can say get to me the most are dogs. Dogs are the most common animals to be abused. Especially when it comes to pit bulls. Pit bulls are the way they are for the same reason people make them that way.
Most of the owners just buy them for fighting. They train them to be mean and to fight and kill. I know for a fact that if they were treated and raised like any other normal dog they wouldn’t kill or hurt anybody around them. Instead mean people get them to make money off them not only for their fights they win but also for the babies they have. If it would be them and if it was their choice I know they would rather have a normal life and not have a sad and short life. The pit bull dog does not last a long time with a life of just fighting and killing. If they don’t kill it’s a big probability that they will be the ones getting killed.
People that do this to these animals have no heart and don’t care about them and just them self. They should think about things before doing them and give them the right to live and have a normal live.

Abductions

Abductions

Some people don’t believe in aliens while others do because they had experience one of the seven kind of encounters or heard stories about aliens/UFOs. To me, the fourth kind of encounter is the worse because this is when an alien abducts a person without leaving any evidence. You wouldn’t even know if they kidnapped you because they would erase aliens your memory, but they are some cases where the person does remember what happened to them on the night of the abduction.
One of the most famous alien abduction cases was from Travis Walton. He wrote a book about everything he experienced, which led to a movie called “fire in the sky”.
This happened in Texas in 1975, when Travis and his friends finished working cutting down trees. They were on the way home when they spotted a red light coming through the trees, a hundred yards away and decided to check it out. On their way, they thought the light would be sun set or trees that went on fire, but when they got there it was something else. It was a golden UFO hovering well below the treetops. Travis then got out of the truck to have a better view. The UFO shot Travis with a ray, which threw him on the ground. When this happened his friends started to freak out and took off, leaving Travis behind. When they were really far they stopped. They were thinking about Travis and went back really frighten. When they arrived they couldn’t see Travis anywhere, plus there was no evidence. They decided to report this to the police.
Travis woke up with pain all over his body. At first he thought he was in the hospital but he was in a room and saw three horrible creatures with huge eyes, and head, with a little body and were about five feet. They were trying to get him but he resisted them and knocked two aliens down with his elbow. He then got a pipe that was in the floor to defend himself. The three aliens gave up and left. Travis noticed that there were tools like the ones that are in a laboratory. He was really scared and left the room, walking down the hallway he found a human being that didn’t talk. Travis followed him and later found three other humans, which were two men and a woman. The human beings then took him into a room and tried to lay him down gently onto the table. The woman then put a soft plastic oxygen mask over his mouth. He then felt very weak and fell asleep. When he woke up he was on the highway in Herber. He then went to a gas station and called her sister. When they got there, they saw Travis all scared. Duane then told him “you’ve been missing for five days.”
I am one of the many people that believe in aliens, but I would never want to be in this situation. I would never want to have contact with these creatures in any kind because the way they describe the aliens, it’s scary. I asked some of my friends “what would you do if you see an alien entering your room?” One of my friend said that he would ask the alien questions. If it happens to me, I would run away all scared. Do you believe in aliens?

When I complete my studies at Marinello I plan to open my own salon. I want to give all my customers tips on how to improve their make-up skills. I would also help people by creating a website that will that will assist them how to improve their appearance by use of make-up. My website will allow people to communicate with me. They would be able to ask me questions about applying make-up.
During high school I’ve been a very outstanding student. My grade point average is a 2.8 and all my grades have been excellent so far. I am a very trustworthy person that can be trusted to doing anything.Whenever I am asked to do something, I accomplish it with diligence. I thirst for knowledge about everything I can learn working with Marinello. I’m a person that never stops working until I complete my task. I am always on time for school and never absent. I am a very loving and, cheerful person.
My parent immigrated to the United States from Sinaloa, Mexico. My mother had the hardest time getting across the border. She got caught the first time she tried. So the next time she had to constantly be on the move. At times she could not sleep or eat because of the stress, but thank goodness she made it on her second attempt. My dad was luckier he made it on his first attempt.
In my family there are four kids. There names are Marcos, Yoselin, Melanie, and finally Evely.
Since I am the first from amongst my siblings to start my career early I want to give my parents a better life. I want to give them all the things they could never afford for themselves. I want to give back everything they’ve done for me in the past. They’re the greatest gift I could ever receive. We need to cherish our parents and especially love them the most.

Unauthorized Immigrants

Unauthorized immigrant is another word for illegal alien. Most people use different words to describe people who don’t belong in the U.S .,who are not citizens. Therefore those who believe in open borders, non-regulation of foreigners entering the U.S, use the words “unauthorized immigrant”. A lot of companies hire people without papers because most of them don’t like their jobs or they’re just lazy.
There’s about 2,600,000 illegal immigrants in the U.S. or even more. What I am trying to say is that many people talk bad about them and want them kicked out of the country. But then who would do the jobs that people don’t like to do? This country is really big, we just all have to learn how live with one another. Even though people lose there jobs because they’re other people who would do it for less, it’s not that persons fault.
The reason why companies hire people without papers is because if something were to happen during the job the company wouldn’t have to pay for anything. Therefore, the people would pay from their pocket. For many years there been many immigrants coming form all over the world, and so far they are still coming to have a better life. Now there is more Latinos in the United States then blacks and white and our population is still growing.
Although most of the students at Bell High School don’t have their papers, they still have high goals and ambitions.  One thing that I think should change is the way that students are treated. They are forced to pay cash or put of pocket for school when they are not natural born citizens of the U.S.  Lastly because of the economy schools have raised the price on books, and things like computers forcing students to pay more.
For all these reasons, immigrants should have more opportunities that will allow them to become contributing members in society. Who knows what they could have been. If given the right education, some could make a difference.

I am an athlete. My passion is learning how to play different sports and being good at them. One of my biggest passions  is football, the reason why I like it so much is because you compete with many different schools and you have to compete to earn your starting position.
I was born in East Los Angeles on August 19, 1993. My mother named me Christian even though a lot of people have that name. Most of my friends call me by my nickname, which is Pancake. I’m a senior now at Bell High School and I play for Bell Varsity football team. I have been in football for four years now, and I plan to join wrestling after season.  One thing about me is that when it comes to making decisions; I sometime tend to pick the wrong choice. There are five children in my family and every one has graduated from Bell.  Now it’s my turn,  because I'm the last one.
I been living in Bell for seventeen years. I have a pet lizard whose name is Fred. I got him on my birthday, he's four feet long and one foot wide. I plan to study animals and play football after high school or at a university. I love to work with animals because I use to work at a pet store called Kong Pets.
Another thing about me is that I have a big appetite after football games. The reason why I don’t like it, is because I’m too tired to eat.

Are Immigrants Really Breaking the Law by Looking for a Better Life?

Christopher Velasquez
Period 2

How would I respond to people who say immigrants do not deserve a path to citizenship because they are breaking the law by coming here and staying here?
I would be angry but I know that won’t help. I would go to a city meeting and convince the people that processing this law is cruel  to immigrants. Everyone deserve the right to. If the counsel members and the senators had any relatives that are immigrants would have something to relate to. Those immigrants left behind had just to come for a better opportunity in the U.S  If they want to get rid of illegal people then why are they working in picking cotton fields and other sorts that of fruit packing job that has a no decent pay and no health care benefits because. They could get a monkey to do it but that’s also against the law because that would be animal cruelty. No other Americans would do those certain jobs because they are considered slave work. When they use Americans they still complain when the economy is bad. You don’t see any Americans working in the factory, fields or Mickey D’s; they are concerned in putting them in offices. They take our jobs. They have the second highest crime rate in the U.S. Big companies hire them on as slaves to work cheap while hard working Americans that have built this country sit unemployed at home.
Many government officials think Mexico is full of poverty and if you allow them to all come here, that's what our country will turn into. They are wrong if government thinks they have enough land to build new places to live and make more jobs. For example, if a city is adding more lanes in the highways wouldn’t that require more workers? Knocking old houses to rebuild more modern and stable ones, wouldn’t that require more workers? And fixing the pot holes in the city of Los Angeles, wouldn’t that require more workers? The U.S has lots of ways to solve this economic problem. It's just that they are to scared to deal with it and to waste money out of  their pockets to employ others.

In my opinion, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth is one of the most creative and intelligent people. A  former Bell High school student that started In 1937 and finished in 1940. When he was in school he took auto shop and drawing that’s where it all started. His love for fixing cars and drawing made him super famous. He invented the cartoon rat (rat fink) that most people like. Rat fink was used a lot in auto media and is still going on. He also invented the first car made out fiber glass, which he called the outlaw. Nobody has ever seen a car like the outlaw. People wanted buy it but he didn’t want to sell it because that was his first  car and it was different from every other car.  He lived in the city of Bell for several years and opened several shops to work on cars and pin strip, flames and air brushing shirts and sweaters with rat fink and creepy monsters that most people like. Several of his shops are still open now but have changed names, like Bell auto shop and Maywood auto shop; near the motel and the gas station.
Rat fink all started out when Ed Roth was thinking about Mickey Mouse. He hated it so much that he wanted to make his own Mickey Mouse that looked so ugly, smelly, and was hairy. He drew it on a napkin when he was in a burger joint that was called the Greasey Spoon,  now it’s called Chris Burger in Maywood. Even though many years have passed, people continue to use the character Rat Fink.

Worst Thing Parents Can Do

Worst Thing Parents Can Do
The worst thing parents can do their children is beat them. This happens quite frequently. Many children are even killed. My mom works at St. Francis Hospital and she has seen several cases where children are beaten by their parents. The worst she’s seen was a young girl around the age of 3 she was scalped, beaten, and bit by her father. The young girl died on her way to the hospital.
According research done by Dr. Vincent Ianneli more than 1.25 million or 1 in every 58 children in the U.S, were abused in 2006. Also, on average nearly 4 children die every day as a result of abuse from their parents. This is horrific every day that passes a child has just been killed. Many parents take their anger out on their children but there are other ways to relieve stress instead of beating children.
Children are unable to understand why they are being abused. On counseling.com C.J. Newton says, “…child abuse where the victim and the perpetrator interact constantly, the person will be sent through a psychological maze of smoke and mirrors leading to any number of bizarre ideas about how to avoid the attack…” He also says that children develop social problems from abuse. Children later in life are scared to try new things and never exercise their mind. This keeps children from reaching their full potential. Also, many children even commit suicide

Monkeys

Monkeys
Monkeys are primates that live in trees in tropical countries. There are New World monkeys, which are the five families of primates that are found in Central and South America. They are small to medium size. Monkeys are considered to be smart and unlike apes, they usually have tails. New World monkeys have small tails and Old World monkeys non-visible tails. What they eat depends on the species but is most of the time fruit, leaves, seeds, nuts, flowers, eggs, and small animals.
The ape, New World monkeys, and Old World monkeys share some like the types of noses, cheeks and the wrinkles they look very different from each other. Some of the New World species are Pygmy Marmosets, Squirrel monkey, Spider monkey and many more. Some of the old world monkeys are Golden Snub Nose monkey, Patas Monkey, Colobus Monkey, Mandrill and more. Each one has its own special acrobatic and vocal abilities depending on the region they live in and the food they eat. Monkeys have very interesting vocal sounds that they use to call each other or announce danger.
Monkeys life span depends on their species. Some species live for 20 and others for 45 years. Monkeys live in groups called troops. Living in troops allows them to have protection against predators. This helps them have a longer life span. Monkeys groom each other to create a bond between there own species.
In some areas, monkeys are considered pests because they cause many damages to agriculture. Monkeys that live in tourist areas are also considered pests because they attack the tourists. This causes humans to hunt them affecting endangered monkey species.
Some organizations help people by training capuchin monkeys as helpers. They assist people with mobility problems and mental disabilities. Monkeys help them by doing tasks around the house like microwaving food, washing the patients face or opening drinking bottles. Before they are placed in a home they go through hard trainings since they are born. They are socialized in human homes and trained to know how to do the tasks and become comfortable around humans. When the trainer feels a monkey is ready he then finds a patient in need for assistance and places the monkey in their home.
In conclusion, monkeys are very interesting animals. Even though monkey have attacked and even killed human’s people seem fascinated with the idea of having them as pets. Many queens have had monkey as pets especially in the early years. Monkeys have been around for a long time and are a good subject to research.

Attitudes and Behaviors Toward the CST 3

Attitudes in the CST

The point of the CST is to see how much students have been learning, some student take this seriously but there are a couple that they just don’t care and they don’t want to put some effort on it because they think that is just to wasted your time. The teacher told us that this is so important for  us because the CST is for money or scholarships that it depends what score you   get ,so that  they could give you money .
There are some students that take this so serious what teacher say, but some of them just don’t care .  This what I did when the teacher told me that , I went home and the first thing I  did was to eat then I sat down in the chair and I started studying and reviewing  what that teacher gave us, else I looked at book and in the internet, I just want to be sure that I understand those questions and even if  it was hard, I looked at the notes that the teacher give us and I put some effort ,when I see the clock, it was already 8:30 so I took a shower ,then I went to sleep like around  9:30 ,it was the first time that I went to sleep at the time.
At the next day I woke up early, I ate some cereal and I prepared myself some sandwiches so that during the break of the CST,I could eat my sandwich, than I started walking to school but when I get to school I didn’t know were to go so ask  some student and he told me that homeroom , and I went to homeroom. I took a seat and some girls were passing up the test. When  I got mine , I opened and I began to start doing it but during the CST I see some people tried to distracted me but I ignored them, it was hard but I didn’t give up, until I finished.
