Double Voicing about Bell High School

Yea so I go to a school called Bell High School and it’s about the only school in the whole country that’s still in the year round schedule. It’s a pretty alright school and at times it can be gay like when we have weird schedules for no reason or when they have a fire drill everyday and stuff. This school is filled mostly with raza with like 1% blacks and 1% Asians and maybe 3% Arabs. There seems to be a lot of trends at Bell like paisa’s, pretty boys, emos, skaters, scene kids, fixie riders, and hipsters. Bell is also a pretty cheap school cuz it doesn’t have a lot of the new technology that other schools do. Also its very old and they don’t fix some of the old things that it has like for example in my history class I can see the pipes out side of the walls were as in other schools they go in the walls. So that’s some thing about my school at times it can be good but other times it just sucks ass.

My name is Honda Mitsubishi and I am a “FES”(foreign exchange student) here in Bell High School. So far I can see this school filled with Mexicans and I can they are pretty weird. This schedule that I am in is nothing like the one we have over there in china. Here there are all types of different foods and stuff. The Chinese food here is nothing like the real Chinese food over there. Where’s the dog menu at? It does have some good sides to it like it isn’t so packed here like a t my old school we have millions of kids in one school. Also there isn’t a lot of car crashes here like we have back home. These guys dress weird too people sag here which looks retarded because they’re stepping on there pants and there ass is like half sticking out. I really hope I don’t become too Americanized in this country because that would be horrible.

Immigration

Immigration

Immigration has a great deal of sorrow for the Hispanic community. People who came to this country cant go back and visit there family friends or relatives that stayed because they themselves do not have the papers or a green card to enter and leave the country at will. There families cannot come over here either because it’s very hard to jump the border well not so much the jump but the trip to get here and then the trip though the U.S. When they do finally come here its very hard for to find a job to support there family or even a place to stay unless they have family here then its no problem for then to have a home til they can get there own. For example when my dad first came here at the age of 14 he said his first car was his house for a good 3 months and his first job was being a bus boy at some restaurant. It paid well that’s the only reason he took the job. For other it might of bin worse they might not even get here they might get caught and deported on the spot. They also might not get a job for weeks and have to live on the street especially now a days no one can get a job. The United States is also becoming more and more over populated with every new immigrant that crosses or comes here illegally. If the “Mirga” does get to them they only leave them right on the border allowing them to just jump it again the second they leave. On the other hand more immigrants here is really good for labor. They are America’s work force and they do all the jobs that most people don’t want to do because they are in need of money. Many things wouldn’t have bin invented like they are used today for example the car pool it allows you to go into the empty lane on the side if you carrying a passenger or two. The home depot would probably be bankrupt today if it wasn’t for all the Mexicans hanging out there and giving it business.

Double Voicing about Bell High School
Bell High School is really unorganized. I think everyone that works for Bell High does not really know what they are doing. Like for example they leave almost everything for last minute and don’t really have exact dates for events. There is nothing special with Bell High, like teachers say that Bell is at the top of the area but I really don’t think so. Like how can this school be top of the area the city is corrupt and the school has a poor education with low standards and it barely has funds for activities and classes.
Ewwwww ew ew ew! So like I’m new to this high school called bell, and by the looks of it, it is like soooooo ghetto! Like how can these people stay here! So I’m just walking around and ugh people keep on starring at me like if I was some sort of freak, but like I’m just pretty and they’re just jealous. OMG its only been like hours and I just can’t stand being at this filthy campus anymore. Everywhere I look there are scary cholos that look like if they are going to steal my purse or do something to me. From now on I’m going to have to carry pepper spray just incase they get near me. So like I was just told that I have to share lockers with two other people. How gross is that, like how is all my stuff going to fit when I have to share a tiny locker with some other kids. I can’t believe this, when I had my own full size locker to myself in the valley. Just when I thought the valley was bad. I’m going to be soo miserable at this place.

Double Voicing about Bell High School
Bell High School is like my second house. Because I learn, and get food and entertainment for free. I learn everyday when  I go to school. I recieve free food, it might not be the greatest food but it is still free.  I can go in line again and get as much food as I want. Entertainment is the best at school, now that can do as many sports as I want to do and also be in-group like film, leadership and homeroom representative. There are always ways in which you can achieve your goals at Bell. Teachers offer help to their students or who ever needs it. These are the reasons why Bell is the best high school ever.

Bell High School is the worst school ever. Many gangsters, problems, tags on the walls, murders in the school and around it. Bell looks all right; it is not the best but not the worst in terms of education. Even though there are policemen in campus and security such as the deans officers. Students still do not care about it. They are not afraid of that. Gangsters are always vandalizing by smoking weed, getting into fights, abusing girls and bullying others. There is always some kind of problems, like the one’s I already mentioned. I see skaters, gangsters, and rockers tagging on the walls all over Bell. It looks good from outside but it actually looks ghetto form inside.

The Greatest Jockey Who Ever Lived

Throughout Laffit Pincay Jr’s career he had won many races. Most of the races he won are very famous, such as triple crowns stake and derby races. Laffit is the greatest jockey I have ever known. “Laffit Pincay Jr. became the first jockey to hit the 9,000 mark in career of wins in California. Congratulations Laffit on the 9,000 and counting’ (Hines). Laffit is the greatest jockey, now that he could beat Bill Shoemaker’s record. The purses, which are the prizes of the races are more than 75,000 dollars. Laffit won many races, but one of his biggest dreams was to win the Kentucky Derby, this race is the most famous race in the world. This race is for 3 year old thoroughbred horses.  Just to make it to the competition is big achievement, now that there is a lot of competition, is very tough. Laffit is very perseverant, “He won the Kentucky Derby in 1984 aboard Swale (horse)’ (Wikipedia.com). He is very perseverant because even though he did not win that race the precious 3 times, he never gave up. This is what makes Laffit so great.
Laffit was inspired by another jockey named Bill Shoemaker. At this time Shoemaker was the best jockey in the United States. Shoemaker had won more than 8,000 races and four Kentucky Derbies. Laffit did not win more Kentucky derbies than Bill Shoemaker, but he beat his record, which makes Laffit the greatest jockey in the history of horse racing Laffit won the Kentucky derby and beat the record of most wins. This is the reason why he was the greatest jockey in the history of jockeys.

I got on a horse whose name is Irish
I got on a horse whose name is Irish.
I took him to the track for training
But he felt like he was racing.
Though he was a pony,
He was stronger than a jockey.
When I released the reins,
He took me for a ride
As I close my eyes.
As I screamed for help
My trainer told me to relax myself.
While listening to the instruction
I was getting ready for abduction.
When he took me for the first lap I was afraid
But the second lap I felt great.
When I was controlling the horse
I felt like a professional jockey.

Double voicing about Bell High School

I think school has a lot of improvements to make. They give the same thing for food every day and still not a lot of people like it. Its nasty, I was about to eat cereal the other day when my friends milk was rotten and mine was slimy when I poured it you can see a little slimy thing go back up to the cup. The school needs some new staff too because I honestly don’t think that they don’t even care. The councilors don’t even give advice and the career councilors are even worst. What kind of career councilor puts your hopes down and tells you that you are going to fail a class instead of telling you to do your best. In my opinion I think they were late to start the college applications and fafsa too.
It also sucks how the teachers can’t even control the air conditioner in their room so I freeze in every classroom. When my mom calls in the morning when I'm absent they don’t even do anything about it because I still have to clear the absence but she doesn’t listen, to not call. The one thing I hate the most is the detention hours when you’re only a minute late. That’s not going to make me more responsible that’s just more problems to solve and stress me out.
The students are dirty! Were so old already and the restrooms are disgusting sometimes. They still get the toilet paper and clog the sink like little kids. They also don’t close the lid on the pad dispenser. Then even worse when they don’t flush the toilet just push the handle! They also write in the stalls I’ve seen whole conversations on the door.

Oh Sweetie you walk through these halls? They scare here. I think the food is good you just don’t like it let’s see what you eat when there’s nothing but that. Don’t complain so much there are kids who are starving. The school is conserved well for it to be old they just need to clean it. They are really polite too when I call; when your absent they always say they appreciate it and to ignore the operator that calls. The staff is helpful if not then why are they working here? You just like to complain a lot. Don’t even complain about the detention hours you get it’s your fault for not waking up earlier, I don’t understand why don’t you if you go to sleep early.

Flora Ave.

My street sucks. I hate it. My house is stuck sitting between the most fuckin’ annoying people in the world, who I hate out of the bottom of my heart. Both of my neighbors live in a multiple housing complex. So it’s not just two families I’m living next to, its like seven or eight.  My neighbors that live to the right of me have these dogs that always start barking and shit in the middle of the night. I can’t fuckin’ sleep.
And if it wasn’t the dogs making noise it was my neighbors themselves. There’s this one couple that always fuckin’ yells at each other over the dumbest shit, like parking the car crooked. Once I woke up at fuckin’ five in the morning on a Saturday ‘cause the neighbors were fighting over who let the dog outside. Idiots. God I hate them. Not only that but the house is connected to a huge building that stores mattresses. So every morning there’s a truck that comes in and loads mattresses and makes all this noise.
And the neighbors on the left of me are all potheads. They just stay inside and watch TV and shit. You can see all the smoke leaving their house in the middle of the night. But that’s not why I hate them. I hate them because they steal shit from us. Once my cousin came to visit from out of state and he left his motorcycle on our driveway and those bastards sneaked in and stole it. We never saw it again. Plus I think one of the ladies in the back is hoarding kids. One day I was outside and like twelve kids, that I’ve never seen before in my life, ran out of the house. Apparently they’ve always lived there. WTF?
No only that there’s these two fuckin’ idiots that race up and down the street in their cars in front of my house everyday. Sometimes I wish that they would combust into smoke so I wouldn’t have to deal with them anymore. Ugghhhh.

I just moved in this neighborhood and I’m already staring to regret it. I cant sleep at night, the neighbor’s dogs are always barking, somebody’s playing their loud music in the middle of the night, and cars are always zooming pass my front yard. There’s a school right down the street of my house and it’s always packed in the morning. I can’t even get my car out of the driveway because of all the students and cars crossing! The closest store nearby is the liquor store at the corner, but its always littered with drunks and the stuff is waayyy overpriced. It ridiculous! I’m always stressed out when I’m driving now because stray dogs and cats always jump in front of my car. At night the police sirens are always on and I cant sleep. Also there has been a string of robberies happening in the pass few days, I’m too scared to leave my house at night.  I can’t  wait to sell my house and get the fuck out.

The Reason Men Cheat

The Reason Men Cheat

In my opinion the reason men cheat is because they are assholes that think they can have any girl they want. They want to be with their girl but they want someone on the side too.  They think there are no consequences for their actions and some girls just stay there because they think he is going to change but he doesn’t. Some girls ask themselves why does this happen to me? They blame themselves because they think they are doing something wrong and the man tries to make them feel guilty so they won’t get in trouble. The men should think, “How are my kids going to feel about? “Or how is it going to affect them?” They’re going to ruin their relationships with their families for a booty call.  Approximately 40% of men seek sexual satisfaction outside their relationships, estimates Kat Hertlein, Ph.D., professor of human development at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas and a marriage and family therapist” (Why men cheat). This shows most men that cheat just wants a sexual relationship. The person they have that relationship with is not going to care about their family or if they’re going to ruin their relationship with the spouse. If the women that is the booty call starts to think its bad to do this the man just tells her “its okay me and my spouse don’t do anything together anymore any ways”. Just because they don’t do anything doesn’t make it right to cheat on them. Some men cheat because they saw it when they were younger. They saw it happening to someone in their family so they don’t think it is wrong and they do it too. It’s can also be that they are unhappy with their spouse. “Other top reasons men cheat? They’re unhappy with their mates - and extramarital sex is cheaper and easier to get these days, Buss says” (why men cheat) These are some reasons why men cheat on their spouses.

Big Bro

My brother, Abraham Hernandez was born in the city of Mazatlan in January 18, 1990. The city is located in the state of Sinaloa. It is a very beautiful city, with nice beaches that are so nice. Many people go there for vacations.  It is a very famous tourist attraction. The water is very nice staying in the “sixty-five - seventy-five degrees all year long” (Mazatlan beaches). That is a very good temperature to swim in. I have never been to Mexico, but when I do go, I definitely want to go to the Mazatlan beaches.

The city of Mazatlan is a very big city, that brings people from around the world to its beaches. “With a population of 438,434” shows how populated the city is, to fit almost half a million people. “Mazatlan is the second-largest city in the sate”. It is in fact a big city, the second largest in Sinaloa. I always wanted to retire and go live in México, and if I do ever have that kind of money, I would definitely want to retire in Mazatlan, Sinaloa.

From what my brother told me, he started school at the age of three. It is weird how they start school at the age of three over there. I believe that is how it should be, for the sake of out future being smarter than us now. If we start school at a younger age, then things will stick to us much better. We’ll even have a better understanding to what they mean. It also depends on the state, but if all schools made the starting age of three, or at least at four, then our next generation will be much smarter. I believe Mexico has a good teaching system.

Two years later, my brother started kindergarten in Loma Vista. That elementary school is only five block away, and 16 years ago my brother was attending there. I also attended there, and I loved that school. I will never forget the cookies that they sold there. I remember this one time when I was in kindergarten. My brother was a fifth grader, and I remember forgetting my folder in his backpack, and then I  started to cry. As a child I had fun and I will never forget my childhood at Loma Vista Elementary.

In 2004, my brother started high school. He went to a school named Bell High. He was a football player, but when he was jumping a fence, he dislocated his elbow. He was not the same after that, and decided to quit. I can relate to it, when I got surgery for my tendon rupture in wrestling. He was class of 08, and even though he did not graduate in time, he still managed to obtain his diploma. He was the first, so he didn’t have anybody to help him. He still did good though, by obtaining his diploma, even though I was couple moths late. He had many adventures in Bell High School, and I hope I have as much fun in my remaining year.

In conclusion, my big brother was born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa in 1990. The city of Mazatlan is a very popular tourist attraction, that brings people from around the world. My big brother went to kinder in Mexico, and continued his education in the U.S. He attended Loma Vista, and bell, just like I did. He also had an injury in a sport, just like I did last semester. He is a great big brother, and a role model.

Discrimination Against Mexicans

Discrimination Against Mexicans

I believe that the way society views Mexicans, is very discriminating. First of all, the immigration laws are way too tough on us. There is many worthy, hard working Mexicans who have been here for numerous years, which deserve legal documents. There are also many very talented high school kids that have to blow their skills, to go work for minimum wage, just because they were not born here. There are also many people that are having a hard time in Mexico, and want to escape the violence over there. I believe that immigration law should loosen up a bit, and new laws should be made as well. It is very difficult to get documents, if you were not born in the United States. The U.S. has treated Mexicans very cruelly for some time now. “During World War 11, there was a shortage of laborers to harvest crops. The federal government allowed braceros, or hired hands, to enter the United States from Mexico. They were supposed to work on American farms during the war, and then go back to Mexico”(The Americans). This shows that the U.S. took advantage of us back then, but they can’t loosen up their laws to let more people in, or to give hardworking Mexicans that have been working here for a long time, get their documents. I believe that is unfair to Mexican families across the Nation. Many undocumented, intelligent high school students give up many opportunities in life, because they don’t have legal papers. There is also athletes that are very talented at a certain sport. Some are even skilled enough to go pro, but will never get the chance to. I personally have friends that don’t have documents, but have been here all their life. They can’t go to college, simply because they do not have papers. Some students even drop out before graduation, because they see the diploma as unimportant, because of the fact that they will still get a minimum-paying job, since they do not have papers. Many talented high school students are throwing away their dreams, because they were not born here. There is a tremendous amount of violence right now in Mexico, and many innocent people are getting killed. “Drug trafficking and organized crime have also been a major source of violent crime in Mexico”(wiki). Many families have been torn apart due to the drug cartels. So many people would like to escape their live in Mexico and start over in America, but it is not that easy. If the U.S. government would loosen their boarders, and let couple hundred cross a year, it would make a big difference. I have family in Mexico that dreams of coming over here, but many will never get that opportunity. I also have friends and family that has been deported back to Mexico, after living here for many years. Many people cannot even drive without getting stressed out, due to the fact, that they do not have a license. Others don’t have a stable job, and are continuously looking for a job.
The United States has very tough immigration laws that affect more people than they think. It affects the people working here without legal documents. Therefore, it affects their kids, including many students who attend school. It also affects many high school kids who want a better future than minimum wage, but do not have a choice. It affects families trying to come from Mexico to make a better future in the country of opportunity. I believe that the U.S. should loosen up their borders, and make new laws affecting the undocumented in a positive way.

DOUBLE VOICE ESSAY Period: 1

School, where to start? All my live I’ve grown up with the idea of going to school, never questioned why I just went. As a kid all I wanted to do was go to school. Elementary was so fun because I never had to worry about anything except my homework. Throughout grade school, I would just wake up brush my teeth change and head off to school somehow knowing it was going to be a good day because my childish mind had no negative thoughts. I never woke up too early to do my hair, pick nice clothes, and make sure everything was ready to start my day. I was worriless that’s what made me happy. Now I think back and realize that the only reason why I was happy and worriless was because as a kid I didn’t have to deal with a lot of things like what I have to do now. As a child I had no idea of the type of people that filled this world. I had no idea that there were “fake friends”, its incredible how gullible I was. If someone smiled and asked me to be their friend I would gladly say yes because I’m not a judgmental person. See the thing is that back then kids didn’t care of how you looked, whether your clothes were dirty or not, or who your best friend was. Now this is high school and man has my perspective toward the world changed. Now I can actually realize that there are many things that are black and white, and as a kid everything seemed as if I was looking into a kaleidoscope all colorful and fun. High school is just bullshit, it’s sad how people I grew up with all my life suddenly don’t know me. People don’t realize that school is like another family; I mean we are stuck here 8 hours of our days seeing the same people, spending time with the same people everyday. Now I ask myself would I judge my family? Would I shit talk my family? Would I pretend I didn’t know my family? Personally I WON’T.  Many people need a reality check and need to see the world differently, they need to see that their judging, their bulling, their shit talking aint gon take them anywhere or make them any better. I really hope people begin changing there bad habits and become better people, especially at this school.

Double Voicing
As a new student here, I feel kind of lost. All the classes, people, and assignments overwhelm me. My fear of coming to a new school was not being able to make friends. I’ve been here for a semester now and I’ve met a few decent people. I believe that anywhere you go you’ll find good people as well as bad people. Yes, plenty people at this school have been kind and hospitable. Even though I’ve met pretty nice people I’ve interfered with rude, queer, inhospitable people. It’s pretty sad how people won’t even have the heart to help a new fella out. Yes, I felt lost and friendless especially when I walked into a class and suddenly everyone decides to awkwardly look at me and just start the shit talking. In my old school it was the same o’ crap, except I wasn’t the “new kid”. Even when you didn’t want to even say anything towards a person, your classmates always had even the smallest comment to make. See the thing is that no matter where you’re at or where you go people will always judge you & personally I think that shit needs to change. High school is just stupid because everyone thinks they can talk shit about other people but when it comes down to them they hope no one says anything. I just hope that one day everyone in high school realizes that high school is just a place for memories. A place to spend time with all the people you grew up with and forget about everyone’s flaws instead of pointing them out.

The City of Maywood

English p1

The City of Maywood
The city of Maywood is a very awesome city, and I am proud to live in this neighborhood. It is kind of old, but it just makes it more original. What separates this city from others, is that it is very compacted. The houses are close by and everybody knows everyone. Mostly everyone gets along, and everyone minds their own business. Maywood is separated by the street “slauson”. The side that I live on is in my opinion, better. In the other side, it seems dull and boring. I have lived here as far back as I could remember.  The schools are very close by, and the race here is Mexican.  You will find a couple of blacks here and there, but they don’t really come outside.
There are gangsters, but they mind their own business. If you don’t dawg them, they won’t even pay attention to you, unless you call attention to yourself. Around gangsters, you do not want to call attention to yourself.  the gangsters wear jerseys, white tees, long socks and shorts. They are also bald headed. Since sheriffs came in, many of them stopped coming out in the day. They are nocturnal, they come out at night. Many people that that there is lotsa shootings, but there is not. Many people have died by shootings here in Maywood, and others intensely hurt( paralyzed), but over a long period of time. When I was little, around elementary, is when the city was very crazy. Many gangsters are now locked up, so it is less dramatic. The reason there is not that much drama, is because in the side where I live, there is only one gang. In other cities, there is gangs that live couple blocks down from each other(Compton).
There is couple of things that the city need to fix. The concrete on most sidewalks are broken. Also, the park is very simple, and the concrete on the basketball court is very slippery. There is tagging, but not as much as before. There are many houses that are very old, that should be remodeled. Besides these downfalls, I believe the city of Maywood is a very fun, interesting city.

Ghetto City
Well, to start off, the city of Maywood is plain disgusting. The streets are ruined, the signs are all messed up, and the concrete is broken into pieces. I do not know how any human being could bare to live in these living conditions. The people who live here are all Mexicans. There is like 10 people living in every home. The violence is so scary. There is a shooting almost every day. The city is always coming out on the news. The cholos here are so mean. They will rob you if they see you alone. The walls have so much graffiti, that I can even smell the spray paint in the air. I can’t go down a block without seeing somebody sagging their pants. If I lived here, I think I would just die. The worst part is that the beach is so far. It’s almost like 30 minutes away. I need to go for a walk on the beach every day. That is very unbearable. The houses here are half destroyed, and it always smells like pig. I think this city is just plain icky.

Double Voicing  About Bell High School

School sucks. Whether your a new or old student, it's the same repetitive bull shit. Waking up at six in the morning to go to school and see the same teacher and same classmates irritates me to the point I’ve become an anti social outcast.  Sitting in a class with a  teacher who can’t teach adolescents. Teens who talk, giggle, and laugh  leaves  me a blistering migraine- pulsing all over my head  and in the half the classes  we learn things we don’t even need in life  and when we do learn, we forget about it in a month.

The Guatemalan Civil War

My uncle was recruited to be part of the Guatemalan civil war at the age of 15 he was forced to be part of the civil war with my dad. They were both trained to become soldiers and start from the bottom like being part of the ones that would go to schools and get teens from ages 14 and up to be part of it. It really wasn’t a choice for them it was not if they wanted or not their was no other choice but to go. They had to be in training for two years and after that they get a chance to either get out and do what they want with their life’s or they continue in it and grow until they get to the Generals position or so. My uncle decided he would stay and fight for his country. A decision that would change every single part of his life. In 1995 my uncle already been threw a lot was a few days away from becoming a Guerilla general when he got shot to death 15 bullets hit his entire body.By the end of the war, it is estimated that over 200,000 people had been killed. The internal conflict is described in the report of the Archbishops Office for Human Rights. Which attributed almost 90.0% of the atrocities and over 400 massacres to the Guatemalan army (and paramilitary), and less than 5% of the atrocities to the guerrillas (including 16 massacres).”(Briggs, Billy) My uncle involve in the majority of this war fought and got killed with honor fighting for his country.

My Father

My dad Jose Hernandez Lopez was born in august 23 1975 in Mexico Tijuana. When he was 9 years old his mother died of a heart problem. He was placed in the care of his aunt who started him working at a very young age.  Then he drop out of school and started working a full time job. Then at the age of 16 he joins the Mexican army. His duty was to scout the mountain to find marijuana plant and to destroy them. It was mandated by the government that illegal substances be controlled. He cut them and burn them to prevent the drug cartel. He did that for a year in a half and then returns home. When he turn 18 he and his sister decided to come to the U.S to leave there past behind. He starts to work as a baker, then a construction worker. Then he tried truck driving, which is what he wanted to do.  Then at the age of 36 he finds out he is suffering a disease call bipolar. This relate to history because presidents around the world are stopping the drug selling business. For example president of Mexico in 1993, Salinas started working with the U.S to stop it.” Mexico insists that the trackffing in the U.S won’t grow a enormous amount”. (U.S library of congress) “Americans large truck radar deploy at the border or on the highway”.

Double Voicing: My Street

Double Voicing about My Street

My street is a pretty chill street. My neighbors are not problematic. They are also clean. There isn’t trash in the street. The only bad thing about my street is that almost every house has a dog. In the middle of the night when one dog barks they all bark. There is this one little annoying dog that always goes inside my drive way, starts to chew my plants and barks at my dogs. Sometimes I feel like letting my big dog loose so it can scare that little shit away. That dog is my neighbor’s dog. Other than that my street is a nice street. I think my neighbors aren’t problematic because right down the street is the police station. The fire department is also close, so if a house is burning the firefighters can even go walking to the house. Everything is also close by my house. For example the store is close by and the school is close by.  If there wasn’t that many dogs I think my street would be better.

I just moved in to this street and I think I’m going to like this street,  except for the dogs. I used to live in Compton and I think anything is better than where I used to live. I can see that this street is safe because the police station is down the street. My neighbors are also clean people. I really don’t see that many children on this street. I mostly see that there are old people and some young people. There is this one guy that thinks he’s a cop and he wants to scare people. I think this is a calm street. The first night I slept in my new house I heard a lot of dogs barking, I wanted to call the dog pound so that they could take all those dogs.  I didn’t call the dog pound because I felt bad for the dogs even though they annoyed me.

Civil War

Short Story
One of the most amazing things my uncle had to face was when he had to go on a night round up to look if everything is the way it’s suppose to be. Walking at 10:45 in the night around 5 minutes after he got out of his base walking normally checking for anything suspicious he heard foot steps that were definitely not his so as he walks he turns and sees a shadow and slowly gets his gun out when suddenly the first bullet is shot not from his gun which doesn’t hit him the second bullet landed exactly in in his leg the other bullet landed in his stomach and the third bullet in his arm. Still alive my uncle shoots to the sky as a signal of help the guy that shots runs away and my uncle is left to his luck. Soldiers that were near by rush to where the shots were heard and take my uncle to
get checked out luckily still alive my uncle survives every shot.

My Great Grandpa-Rudolph Galiana

My Great Grandfather Rudolph (Rudy) Galiana was born on May 1, 1920 and he passed away June 29, 1988, on my Auntie Stephanie’s High School Graduation (from Bell High). My Great Grandfather was born and raised in East Los Angeles, around the 1920’s and 1930’s, he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School, Home Of The Mighty Rough Riders. After my grandpa graduated from high school he attended the United States Marine Corps, after leaving the Marine Corps he attended The California College of Mortuary Science, which he graduated from on June 25, 1948, he opened his own mortuary business in East L.A., where he raised my two uncles and nana.
My Great Grandpa was a one of a kind man, he was over 6’2” and he was liked by everyone. My grandpa was the type of man that was very kind, affectionate, sweet, smart, and assertive, he had a great sense of humor and very big personality. My Grandpa was also one of the men who helped design the original King Kong ride in Universal Studios. My grandpa was also very opinionated and was involved in political situations and he was also the type of man that wouldn’t take any BS from anyone.
My family tells me that my Great Grandpa was loved by everyone that knew him. They tell me stories on the way he would treat my aunt’s and uncle’s, they would tell me that he would treat them like little kings and queens, he would take them anywhere and everywhere. They use to tell me that when they were little my great grandpa would tuck them into bed and sing to them. The people that knew my great grandpa would tell me he was very loveable and fun to be around, but they also tell me that he was the type of man that would hide a lot and was very secretive.
Even though I never had the chance to meet my Great Grandfather, I believe everything my family says and I know I would have loved by grandfather so very much. I wish I was able to enjoy and see how fun my grandpa was and to be there for all the accomplishments he achieved well he was alive, but there is one thing my Godmother told me he enjoyed saying to people that she’ll never forget, “Chicken Shit”.

Radical Revision

My Short Story about My Great Grandpa
My Great Grandfather was the best man in my life. I remember the times when my grandpa would pick me up after school and take me to get some ice cream and take me for a walk through the park, my grandpa would tell me so many stories about his childhood, like what he use too do for fun, the sports he was in, and the type of people he would hang around. I remember one day I and he were walking through the park and he told me about the first time he laid eyes on my great grandma Sally Santoyo, they married on June 12, !939 in St. Mathis Church in Huntington park. My grandpa told me when he first laid eyes on my grandma he was buying some food, he would tell me that he would see her at the same fast food place at the same time, so finally after a couple weeks, he decided to ask her out, she was shocked but excited, then after like 2 years he asked her to marry him and he told me she screamed yes. My great grandpa was the number one man in my life, I loved him with all my heart and I still do, there’s times when I think about him and cry because of how much I miss him. My Great Grandpa Rudolph (Rudy) Galiana will always be my number one man,
