My Great Grandfather
I have heard numerous stories about
my great grandfather, Pablo Nunez, from my mother. He died at the age of 102 as
an admirable man whom was liked and looked up to by the whole village due to
his nobility. He was born in Nayarit Mexico around the year 1905. For a living,
he worked in agriculture, “A
variety of products are able to be produced in Nayarit due to its variable
geography and climate (Nayarit).”
“During this period, Nayarit enjoyed economic growth due to improvements
in transportation and communication. Increased prosperity concentrated in the
hands of a few, however, and most of the region’s inhabitants remained poor
(Nayarit).” He became wealthy once his second wife died during a miscarriage
and left him all her fortune. He bought horses, cows, pigs, goats, chickens,
dogs, and stabilized his own plantation of crops in a big location near
his house. With his third wife he had twelve kids, three of which he adopted
because they were poor and orphans. When ever someone in the village needed
help, they would come to him, and he would help out the best he could. Pablo is
still remembered for his great actions and the support that he gave to
everyone.
