My Great Grandfather's Story

My great grandpa died at the age of 67 of diabetes.  When he was around his 20s he was forced to join the Mexican army with his brother he was forced by his dad. He didn’t want to but he didn’t have a choice. In the 1910 his first fight began in the Mexican revolution. The Mexican revolution started because there was a huge disagreement of the dictatorship. They were about to shoot my great grandpa but luckily the enemy missed. When he saw a bullet flying thru the air and it was about to touch his brother he didn’t think it twice. He “flew” to save his brother’s life and the bullet went thru his leg. They took him to the emergency room and they amputated his leg. At first he couldn’t believe he didn’t have a leg but then he didn’t care because it was worth saving his brother. They just had to send him home.
The Mexican Revolution was a major armed struggle that started in 1910, with an uprising led by Francisco I Madero against longtime autocrat Porifrio Diaz, and lasted for the better part of two decades until around 1929. The Revolution was characterized by several socialist, liberal, anarchist, populist, and agrarian movements. Over time the Revolution changed from a revolt against the established order to a multi-sided civil war. This armed conflict is often categorized as the most important sociopolitical event in Mexico and one of the greatest upheavals of the 20th century”. (Wikipedia) “After prolonged struggles, its representatives produced the Mexican Constitution of 1917. The Revolution is generally considered to have lasted until 1920, although the country continued to have sporadic, but comparatively minor, outbreaks of warfare well into the 1920s. The Cristero War of 1926 to 1929 was the most significant relapse into bloodshed”. (Wikipedia)

Radical Revision

Journey to Hero Poem
It was his sacrifice to begin this journey
A brice in him to fight as a soldier with Ernie
In the Mexican revolution
Full of confusion
Sometimes suffer
Which made him tougher
To win this battle with an infusion
To be in Seattle crave with illusion
Brave to stand for his rights
Even when a wave was as bright
His resolution had no price
To be with his family he emphasize
Fought to conclusion with no fear to zero
My great grandpa was my hero
