“Fast Five” Review
Out of all of the Fast and the Furious
movies, Fast Five is probably the worst. There is one issue in particular that
makes this the worst movie in the series. The issue is that it’s not about
racing any more. If you look back at the series, racing is the subject that
holds the story together. But some how they go from racing cars, to drug money
and drug dealers. That really does not go with the original story line.
Before, the original movies had cool looking
and fast cars. To me, Fast Five had two actual racing scenes and was more like
a glorified car commercial. The only appeal was a few new or famous model cars.
They were shiny and brand new and that was it. That was pretty much all they
had about cars. In the first two movies, you can see when they actually get
down into the engine and start describing it. Fast Five was more like “lets
throw in a few fast and expensive cars and show them in like 1 or 2 scenes.” It’s
weird that they would put new cars but keep the same old actors. It’s nice that
they are keeping the original cast but younger actors should be in it. “Wow,
the only way this film could be more ludicrous is if they actually cast Ludicrous
in it. Oh wait…”(Widgett Walls). This shows that some people are actually
getting tired of the same cast in every movie. It was nice in the fourth movie
but now they are just making these characters look invincible. “The chemistry of
the core cast steered by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker keeps this from outing from running on fumes”(Lisa
Kennedy). This quote shows that there are still people who enjoy seeing the
original cast.
They should just end the series instead of
trying to keep the story alive with old actors and an already confusing story.
They don’t even give us an exact time period and they still throw in actors
from all the movies. You can’t tell if the movies take place in 2006 or 2016.
They throw in all this new tech and new cars but it still doesn’t narrow down
the time frame. It’s hard to tell if the third movie is before or after Fast
Five.
The Fast and Furious series should just end
if its not going to be about racing. If it’s not about racing or cars, fast
should not be in the title.
