Work Permit

            Many families struggle with money and a place to live, especially families that come from Mexico. Parents come here illegally with no papers and it’s hard for them to find a job. If it’s hard for people that have papers to find a job, imagine how hard it is for people that are undocumented. I think the government should at least give them a work visa. Rick Perry also believes this too. He says “You can put a program into place in which these individuals can be identified, and work visas in which they can move back and forth between their countries but not to become United States citizens”(Perry). This may help because they wont be forced to find any job that will be hard labor and where they cold be taken advantage. Many immigrants are not bad people they just need money to survive and take care of their families. I don’t understand why they wont give them work permits. The only jobs immigrants take are the ones people don’t want. For example they work as janitors, Maids, Taxi drivers, farming, factories, and construction. Those people who complain or say that Mexicans steal jobs, or that they should go back to Mexico, have to understand what its like to live in Mexico. First “In Mexico City and other Zone A cities, the minimum wage is 30 pesos a day, or about $4 a day. About 15 percent of Mexico City workers earn the minimum wage, 32 percent earn up to between one and two times the minimum, 20 percent earn between two and three times the minimum, 16 percent between three and four times the minimum, and 17 percent earn five times the minimum wage or more, the equivalent of more than $550 a month. Some Mexicans want to eliminate the minimum wage, saying it sets a ceiling on wages, not a floor, as employers promise the minimum or a multiple of it”(UC Davis). Does making four dollars a day sound good?. In California the minimum wage is eight dollars an hour. Imagine making half the minimum wage in a day.. If they would know how much poverty there is and how dangerous it is to visit or even live there. I believe the government should give a work permits so immigrants can find a job and not have to live in fear of being deported.
