My Grandfather
My grandfather was born 04/04/1938 he now  lives in Yaroun a city in Lebanon, Where my parents tell me is a great place to visit rather than live there. Although I was born there I didn’t actually see how it looks like, buildings aren’t like they are here in California, and also the streets are narrow, bumpy and mostly only go straight. ”Lebanon is known for its unique efforts in the Middle East to guarantee civil rights and freedom to its citizens, ranking first in the Middle East and 26th worldwide.” (Wikipedia). Lebanon is a small country with many different cities like, Yaroun, Beirut , Soor, and others. “In coastal areas, winters are generally cool and rainy whilst summers are hot and humid. In more elevated areas, temperatures usually drop below freezing during the winter with heavy snow cover that remains until early summer on the higher mountaintops” (Wikipedia, Lebanon Climate).

My grandfather wakes up every morning at 5 o’clock in the morning to pray. Now in Islam, Muslims pray 5 times a day, after midday, noon, afternoon, after sunset, and night fall. So soon after he’s done with his Morning Prayer he eats breakfast and does any necessary chores he needs to finish and after his long day from working he goes back home to relax and drink shy. An Arabic tea which almost every Arab drinks, bitter or sweet just the way they like it.

My grandfather was the first from our family to go to New York and come to California. He loves it in California. All of his children grew up and lived with their families here in California too; all living near each other and my grandfather comes to visit every year to come fast with us during Ramadan. Ramadan is where Muslims wake up around 2am and eat until 5am and after 5am they cannot eat or drink anything, we do this for a month, but of course we do eat. We wait to eat from 5am to 8pm and after we finish fasting for a month we celebrate. My grandfather is a very strong man who loves us all very dearly and will do anything to keep us happy.

Short Story
Through it all you still manage to stand tall. With the death of his wife and the sickness of his sister.  Even through all that he still manages to see us happy. He likes going out and enjoy his time. I can’t wait to see him this summer it will be great! He brings much more joy to the family when he’s around and also brings lots of goods from Lebanon like fluets, or lion amazing chocolates! And much more things my family asks for.
